Our sample was students 24 women and 6 men. All students in the same degree in the above mentioned academic year. Students were asked to complete a written questionnaire that was posted on the internet, while they were ensured for their anonymity. Data analysis was done by following a quantitative approach via the usage of the SPSS24 statistical software. The most important findings of the research were that of all forms of internet and computer based technology that was used in order to assist students during their studies, the forum, the emails and the usage of phone conversations with students and lectures were the ones that were mostly related with their written assignments. In terms of their educational needs in general, they were covered by email, forums, telephone communication and they also chose to videoconferencing. Generally speaking, they have shown that internet and computer technology are essential in distance learning education. Finally, students wanted to improve their communication with their lectures, would like to increase their telephone communication with them and to give answers to their questions via the forum usage.

Vasiliki Koukousouri, Andreas Karaoulanis ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://cirworld.com/index.php/ijrem/article/view/7156 Mon, 30 Apr 2018 00:00:00 +0000 The Effect of Customer Relationship Management on Customer retention in Private Higher Education Institute in Malaysia https://cirworld.com/index.php/ijrem/article/view/7356
This research is conducted in order to evaluate the purpose of studying the customer relationship practices and customer satisfaction in PHEI that offers undergraduate degrees in Malaysia. According to the results obtained, it proves that CRM practices contain more positive effect on its customer satisfaction. The sample size used was only focused on PHEI that offer undergraduate programmes in Malaysia. According to the research conducted, there are few limitations that disclose the exact relationship between CRM and Customer Satisfaction. Education industry has become one of the major growing industries in Malaysia with various numbers of competitors. Thus, this study allows policy makers of PHEI to focus and implement CRM practices that would have an increase of direct positive impact of satisfaction for their customers. The study conducted also helps to evaluate not only CRM and satisfaction but also evaluate the effect of the Gender and Age Group factors that reflects on the relationship.
Melissa Wane Manogharan, Soovendran Varadarajan ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://cirworld.com/index.php/ijrem/article/view/7356 Tue, 08 May 2018 00:00:00 +0000 Research Activities in the Teaching Intensive University: Scholarship Reconsidered & Repositioned https://cirworld.com/index.php/ijrem/article/view/7396
A quarter of a century has passed since Professor Ernest L. Boyer's landmark book, Scholarship Reconsidered: Priorities of the Professoriate, challenged the publish-or-perish status quo that dominated the academic landscape then and has continued to do so through a variety of research league-table games. His powerful and enduring argument for a broader approach to academic roles and rewards within universities continues to be important as higher education providers balance the varying expectations of their role in society. This paper is more an examination of the provenance of the Boyer model than a review of the book.
Anthony G Shannon ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://cirworld.com/index.php/ijrem/article/view/7396 Wed, 30 May 2018 00:00:00 +0000 Exploring the Relationships Among Innovation, Collaboration, and School Change in a Mixed Methods https://cirworld.com/index.php/ijrem/article/view/7460
Continuous school improvement efforts require schools to prepare, organize, and lead change. This study examined how a school created a context for change by implementing an innovation to improve teaching practices, school culture, and student learning outcomes. Implementing innovation requires school leaders to understand the process of change to successfully sustain school improvement efforts. The purpose of this research study was to assess the effectiveness that an innovative hybrid schedule had on improving student learning outcomes and school culture. This mixed-method research study used data generated by the AdvancEds Stakeholder Feedback Survey, the ACT Aspire Student Achievement Tests, and teacher interviews. The analysis of this studys data indicated several factors that facilitated change through the implementation of the innovative hybrid schedule. The researcher discovered these overall factors related to the benefits of students changing classes, teachers becoming content specialists, collaboration through PLCs and vertical planning. Additionally, the results revealed that significant change occurred in school culture based on the AdvancEds Stakeholder Feedback Survey. Additionally, student learning outcomes measured by ACT Aspire Reading and Mathematics Student Achievement Tests showed a statistically significant improvement in both reading and math.

Aneta Hogan Walker ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://cirworld.com/index.php/ijrem/article/view/7460 Tue, 03 Jul 2018 00:00:00 +0000 Using Cmap Cloud in the cooperative development of interactive concept maps to improve academic performance https://cirworld.com/index.php/ijrem/article/view/7824
For this study, 148 students were recruited, and they consisted of two experimental groups and one control group. Both experimental groups were instructed in the development of conceptual maps using the CmapTools software, while the students in the control group freely chose which study strategies they would use to acquire the knowledge that would be evaluated. The difference between the two experimental groups was that one of the experimental groups followed the guidelines of a cooperative activity, developing a conceptual map in work teams (4 students to each team) using CmapCloud, while in the other experimental group, each student developed the contents of a conceptual map in CmapTools on an individual level. The objective was to detect whether there would be any statistically significant differences between the three groups at the level of academic performance. For this purpose, the same sample was tested by means of the same type of knowledge acquisition test. The data obtained reveal that the scores are higher in the experimental groups than in the control group, and in turn, the experimental group that included cooperative work obtained a better level of performance than the experimental group that worked at the individual level. Therefore, we conclude that simple modifications in the pedagogical strategy (introducing an effective learning strategy and cooperative work), would significantly improve the teaching-learning process and, consequently, would significantly improve the average performance of the students.
Ignasi Navarro Soria, Carlota González Gómez, Fernando López Becerra, Francisco Fernández Carrasco, Jorge Heliz Llopis ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://cirworld.com/index.php/ijrem/article/view/7824 Tue, 03 Jul 2018 00:00:00 +0000 Analysis of PISA data on the effect of student's parents on Math Anxiety in Spanish students https://cirworld.com/index.php/ijrem/article/view/7886
In this work we present a descriptive study of the effects that the schooling level of both parents (mother and father) may cause in the levels of Math Anxiety in Spanish students from secondary education. We study the effects separately for male and female students, and native, first, and second generation of immigrants. Results show a slightly bigger influence of the mother over the father. For higher ISCED levels, native and second generation immigrants have same behavior, while for lower levels natives have less anxiety. In families where the mother has a higher ISCED level than the father, female students native and second generation immigrants have more Math Anxiety, whereas the opposite occurs in male students.
David Gutiérrez-Rubio, Alexander Maz-Machado, Carmen León-Mantero, María José Madrid-Martín ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://cirworld.com/index.php/ijrem/article/view/7886 Tue, 03 Jul 2018 00:00:00 +0000 I Investigating university teacher practice: A need for didactics https://cirworld.com/index.php/ijrem/article/view/7904
ABSTRACT

Based on his position as a mathematician teacher at the university, the first year teacher sees discipline as a rigid base. Therefore, without any teacher training program, he promotes teaching on learning, trying to impart mathematical knowledge without specific didactical teaching tools. In a vision to develop professional skills of a reflective practitioner, we conducted a survey for teachers to gather information about their teaching practice and didactical underlying issues. The results show a need for a didactic training on teaching at the university.
This review is concerned with the cultural and scientific cooperation between Iraq and France. Through this cooperation the French government provided joint fellowship program in master and doctorate in various subjects. With regard to teaching French as a second foreign language the support included training courses (2-4 weeks) offered to French language teachers to help keep them abreast of the development of the language education sector. In addition, free curricula taught in the French language departments in five Iraqi universities has also been provided through this cooperation. Recently, in October 2017 the French government affirmed their continued willingness and commitment to participate in the rehabilitation of higher education in general and specifically revitalization of linguistic centers by signing a Goodwill Memorandum. This review, explores possible benefits to a country like Iraq, which has suffered for years from being away from development and advancement as well as the destruction of infrastructure.
Yaqdhan ALASSAF ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://cirworld.com/index.php/ijrem/article/view/7889 Tue, 03 Jul 2018 00:00:00 +0000
